Eyes cut through the reeds
Black from knowing war

To long life they’re sworn

Crabs at picking’s work
Strip the victims clean
With a tired jerk
Death lives on unseen

Shells of warring men
Fill the kettles full
Rice from the thieves’ den
Feeds the hungry cruel

Those who dwell with Death
Wait for Love’s return
Though he draws no breath
Hotter pain’s flame burns

In it it’s black

With sinning rife the summer
Burns like Hell

The frozen crops can only
Hope to fail

Murder washes human skin away

Will be killed or drowned

Then the Demon comes
Seeks the path that’s gone
